Your Special Hat

Commissioning  a bespoke hat can be  a rewarding and fun experience but you may be worried about it too. Please don't worry, Anne has years of experience in both creating bespoke hats and wearing hats.  She understands the importance of having the right headpiece for you and the event you are going to.  It should complement your outfit, your personality, body and face shape and your colouring and of course, be appropriate for the special occasion your are going to, whether it is  a wedding, the races, garden party  or awards ceremony. Bespoke headwear prices are usually much the same as similar pieces you will find in the collections but may vary slightly depending on the fabrics and trimmings you choose.   You can call or email Anne to find out more and discuss your ideas.

So, if you would like a hat that is just for you, something unique or different that reflects your personality, dress and style and ensures a perfect fit, Anne would love to discuss your ideas with you. She can design and make a special hat, headpiece or fascinator for you. Anne offers a bespoke design service that is entirely individual and personal.

All her hats are handmade to order, using the highest level of workmanship in her studio in Suffolk. Designs from the collections can be adapted and tailored to your requirements or something completely different can be created. Anne works with a wide range of materials including straws, felts, silks, velvets, lace, veiling, organdie, beads and feathers and is happy to include your own fabric or trim. 

 

How it works

1. Contact

You contact Anne by telephone (07990542371) or email (hats@annereedermillinery.co.uk) to find out more and make an appointment.  Ideally, you will come to the studio in Ipswich. Its easy to find and there is  plenty of street parking nearby or you can catch a train from London to Ipswich. It takes just over an hour.   Alternatively, contact  Anne to arrange a meeting on Skype, Whatsapp or Zoom.

If you would like to bring any ideas, pictures or your outfit with you, it would be really helpful. If you are able to come to Anne's studio, you will be able to try on hats to give you an idea of the sort of shape you would like. 

 

2. Initial consultation

At the first consultation you and Anne will talk about what you are looking for, your outfit, the occasion, the style, shapes and colours that suit you, the materials and so on. You can try on hats and Anne can sketch some ideas for you. The initial consultation usually lasts about an hour.    Anne will confirm the design, fabric and colour choice and give you a guide price for the hat. If you are happy with the details and would like to go ahead, you will be asked to pay a deposit to confirm the order.

3.First Fitting

Back to the studio to try on your hat and make sure it fits perfectly and that you are happy with the size and shape. Adjustments can be made and you will finalise the trimmings.  More complicated orders may need a further fitting while some orders just need one final fitting.

 

4. Final Fitting

You collect your finished hat. If necessary, any final adjustments are made, if possible while you wait. You will be asked to pay the balance of the price before you take the hat away. Your hat will come beautifully wrapped in its own hat box.

You may like to choose a headpiece for the ready to wear collection or have one made in a similar style but a different colour.

If you decide to have a bespoke hat made, Anne will email you photos of your hat during the making process.

When your hat is complete, you will receive a photograph of the piece by email or Anne can show it to you on Whatsap, Skype of Zoom. If you're completely happy, you pay the balance of the order. Anne will dispatch your hat by Royal Mail, Special Delivery or Parcelforce. If you prefer to use a chosen courier please let Anne know. Your hat will come beautifully wrapped in its own hat box.

Pricing

Bespoke hat prices will be in the region of  similar hats that you will find in the collections but may vary slightly, depending on the fabrics and trimmings you choose.  The exact price of your hat will depend on the cost of the materials and the time it takes to make. It will be different for every hat.  Payment can be made via Paypal, in cash or by bank transfer.

Exchanges and Returns

If you have any problems with your bespoke order, please contact me within 14 days.  I will accept returns and exchanges but can only accept returns on bespoke items if they arrive with you damaged or defective. Buyers are responsible for their own return postage costs and the item must be returned in its original condition and packaging. Buyers should obtain postage with tracking and that needs signing for.​​
